Undead Media: Dead Media That Refuses to Die

Dead Media: Dead Media can be said to comprise of communications and information storage devices and systems that are no longer in use or no longer supported. For the argument of this blog, the term "Dead Media" is applied to 'antique' audio formats, specifically analogue cylinder and disc formats. It is further refined in this blog to formats manufactured prior to about 1930.

Undead Media: Dead media that refuses to die because collectors of 'undead media' keep these 'obsolete' critter alive and kicking. Specifically, in this case of this blog, that would be antique audio formats such as those produced by the Victor Talking Machine Company, Edison Laboratories, Pathé, etc., in disc or cylinder configuration.

The dry stuff aside, collectors like myself refuse to allow these obsolete formats die and we restore them, preserve them and support them.

So sit back, crank it up and get ready to see how they did it way-back-when.
